A month ago, Navelink had the privilege of attending a significant meeting with BIMCO, the world’s largest international shipping association. This event was an exciting step forward in our mission to revolutionize secure digital information exchange within the maritime sector.
BIMCO: Bringing Maritime Actors Together
BIMCO boasts an impressive global membership, representing 62% of the world’s tonnage. With over 2,000 members in approximately 130 countries, their reach and influence in the maritime industry are extensive. Their core services encompass standard contracts, regulatory advocacy, information and advice dissemination, and comprehensive training programs.
Navelink: A Trusted Digital Infrastructure Partner
Navelink, a non-profit industry consortium, is on a journey to provide an industrialized and governed open infrastructure for secure digital information exchange within the maritime domain. As an operational instance of the Maritime Connectivity Platform (MCP), we bring specialized secure digital communication capabilities, an Identity Registry, and a Service Registry tailored to the maritime sector. At Navelink, we believe in providing a secure and standardized platform for maritime actors to exchange digital information efficiently, thus reducing fragmentation and associated costs.
Shared Commitment to Maritime Advancements
Our meeting with BIMCO was driven by a shared commitment to elevate maritime operations and foster collaborative advancements within the industry. During the conference, we delved into the challenges and opportunities facing the maritime sector in the era of digitalization and standardization. It became evident that addressing these challenges requires the combined efforts of governments, industry actors, international organizations, and academia. Together, we can navigate the complexities of this digital transformation and shape a safer, more efficient maritime future.
Looking Ahead: A Stronger Maritime Community
As we reflect on our meeting with BIMCO, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Collaborative efforts like these are essential to driving progress in the maritime industry and facilitating open access to markets.
Navelink remains committed to being your trusted digital infrastructure partner, offering secure data exchange, identity management, and standardized communication. Together with BIMCO and other stakeholders, we are determined to create a stronger, more secure, and interconnected maritime community.
